Skin pen

SkinPen Precision gives your skin the reset that it needs. SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared micro-needling device, which means it’s rigorously tested for safety. In as few as three treatments, SkinPen Precision can make a visible difference with little down time. 

How does microneedling work? 

It creates thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue and wrinkles , while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.

There are three phases to the wound-repair process:

• Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
• Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
• Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

What to expect - 

We will carefully assess your skin to establish if you are a candidate and will thoroughly explain the procedure, risks and benefits prior to treatment.

Prior to your treatment we will cleanse the skin and apply a topical anaesthetic cream , this is so the treatment is more comfortable. The treatment doesn’t hurt but simply feels scratchy. The SkinPen is carefully glided across the area of concern using the Skinfuse LIFT HG (Allergy free from cytotoxic) to create hundreds of microscopic puncture wounds which stimulates the natural repair process and activates collagen and elastin production. Erythema should be visible with possible signs of blood spotting, this gives us indication that the depth is at its correct point in order to penetrate deep enough into the skin.

Immediately after the treatment you can expect your skin to feel warm, slightly tingly and tight. So sit back and relax whilst we apply a cooling and nourishing masque. This doesn’t just make the skin feel more comfortable but also furthers the enhancement of your treatment.

Is there any down time?

With skin pen, there is some down time. It doesn’t require putting a paper bag on your head for a week but you will experience some redness initially for the first 48hrs and dryness for anything up to 10 days. 

POST TREATMENT:

You should avoid touching the area or applying any products onto the skin for 12 hours in order to prevent infection. Post treatment Skinfuse LIFT HG can be applied to help soothe the area. After 12 hours Skinfuse RESCUE Calming complex can be used to help support remodelling of the skin. The treatment area can be red and warm for 24 to 48 hours post treatment but most patients see a reduction in erythema after 24 hours of treatment. Specific post treatment instructions will be given to you by your aesthetic practitioner. 

How many is recommended?

SkinPen microneedling sessions are usually spaced four to six weeks apart. Sessions are spaced at least one month apart because it can take anywhere from four to six weeks for the full results of treatment to be realized. This is if you’re treating a specific concern, if you’re wanting to keep skin healthy and maintain skin health, you can have this treatment every 3months. Recommendation for skin pen is anything between 3-6 session but each case varies on what concern you’re treating.
